The city was founded by [[Vesse the Pagan]] in 439 CE , who relocated it there due to its distance to their main enemies, Kalevala and Luvakhia. The former capital, Lindamise, was a minor fortified settlement located near the gulf of Riga, which eventually being destroyed by Uralian raiders and finally having Riga be created in its stead.

Vesse the Pagan was a Uralian warlord that ruled much of the Republic of Tanume between the collapse of the Eurasian Confederacy and the creation of the Yatan Commonwealth from around 419-440 CE. The warlord died in the battle of St-George in 440 CE, leading her army to route and surrender to Yatian forces. Vesse also moved the capital of Tanume from Lindamise, ordering the creation of Vabalinn.

Tentions between ethnic groups have always existed, especially between Lithuanians and Belarusians, however with the independence war, the various factions withing the Republic have a fragile truce and a small sence of unity to rally against larger foes instead of waging war to another.

Tanume sits east of the Baltic sea, South of the Gulf of Finland. Largest islands in Tarune are Saaramaa and Hiidmaa. The largest lake in Tarune is lake Võrts in the province of Rigas-Vidzemes. Famously, the Daugava rives seeps into the Gulf of Riga.

== History ==
The capital of Tanume is Vabalinn(Free City in the North-Estonian dialect of Uralian), which sits on the territories of Samogithians. The city was founded by Vesse the Pagan in 442 , who relocated it there due to its distance to their main enemies, Kalevala and Luvakhia. The former capital, Lindamise, was a minor fortified settlement located near the gulf of Riga, which eventually being destroyed by Uralian raiders and finally having Riga be created in its stead.
