Concerned that a successful assassination attempt or simply natural causes taking course could destroy Yetia, the [[Yetian Military Council]] nominated 4 possible candidates to be officially designated as Karl's successor; the 'militarist' Grand Marshal [[Jürgen Neumann]] who favoured continued imperialism, the 'dissolutionist' Economy Minister [[Jonas Krause]] who favoured an end to wars and a return to democracy, the 'advocate' Prime-Minister [[Valerie Béliveau]] who wished to centralize all of the [[Yetian State]] under one more isolated regime, and the 'radical' Paramilitary Commander [[Ernest Zupančič]] who favoured a path towards more complete totalitarianism to direct production towards total Yetian world domination. Once he had become conscious again, Karl Ludwig D'Elsa appointed Jonas Krause as his successor, leading to the other 3 candidates starting to plot against him.
