Atheism is the absence of believe in the existence of [[deities]], with adherents commonly holding the position that there are no deities whatsoever. Atheism in contrasted with "theism", which in its most general form is the belief that at least one deity exists. Atheist organizations have often defended secularism and scientific autonomy. Common arguments for their stance include the likes of the lack of evidence, inconsistencies, and the problem of evil. Not all atheists believe that these reasons provide complete proof that a god cannot exist, rather claiming that they are merely evidence against such a concept.
