In an attempt to cling onto power Suharto ordered the usage of chemical weapons on the FPA, which did little to stop the advance of the rebels. After mere weeks, all of Poavak except the government district of [[Jakarta]] had fallen to the rebels as Suharto barricaded himself in [[Fort Benteng]].
