The '''Second Mechanical Church''' is a sect of the [[Mechanical Faith]] that preaches a form of orthodox mechanicalism known to them as "Standardization", whereby adherents submit to clockwork cybernetic enhancement with the stated goal of making themselves in the image or plan of their mechanical deity. Second Mechanicalism deliberately adheres to technological norms of the late Industrial Revolution, and regard the mass-production of analogue, steam and clockwork machinery as a form of prayer.

The Second Mechanical Church's doctrine is highly centralized and regulated by a group of religious figures known as the Patriarchs. This body issues detailed production orders and design documents, which form the core of the religion's extremely extensive governance system. Second Mechanical belief opposes the use of electronic or digital devices, and views distributed information sharing and decentralization as equivalent to the dissolution of divine knowledge.

The Second Mechanical Church was formed by high-ranking figures in the [[Church of Mekhane]] and some moderate members of the [[Church of the Red Leader]] who wished to return to the old principalist theology that the old unified [[The Mechanical Church|Mechanical Church]] followed. The Second Mechanical Church's attempts to follow the now outdated doctrine of the [[The Mechanical Church|Mechanical Church]] as closely as they could lead to them excommunicating thousands from the church for not following their ways. These excommunicated individuals went on to form the [[Covenant of Wan]], a modern approach to the [[Mechanical Faith]].
