Because of Mei'ra unawareness of the end of the pandemic, the Illuminati remained unaware of the restoration of society until 98. Once it had learned of the reinstatement of society, it swiftly began attempting to insert itself into the world order, which was mostly successful. In modern times the Illuminati is a fairly significant member of the United Occult Initiative, as many of their members are skilled lawyers and diplomats, playing a major role in negotiating political and diplomatic agreements for the UOI. Though they have been criticised by those supporting the new anti-veil status quo due to their apparent power-hunger<ref>They insist on still having control and influence within the 'world order'</ref> and reluctance to stop operating in secrecy.
