A largescale uprising began in [[Fujian]] and [[Taiwan]], putting regions of [[Great Sizzle]] into turmoil as the two regions began trying to break way from Great Sizzle. After a fairly brief fight, the Separatists managed to successfully break away from Sizzlean rule. [[Yanhei]] adopted more of a socialistic model while Taiwan fell under the authoritarian rule of [[Tsai Qin]].

The two new states and their neighbour of [[Shenguo]] bonded over their shared history of resisting their larger neighbours to the north, leading to them together forming the '[[Pearl Alliance]]' as a front to protect true Sinitic culture. The 3 began working towards a plan to liberate more of their brethren from Great Sizzle, preparing to make use of their powerful navies and connections to countries such as [[Luvuria]] and [[Islandia]]. [[Nihilantis]] and its proxies saw potential in this alliance against the major power of Sizzle.
