The term Sapient Construct is a classification mainly used by HAWK to describe what others might call "Artificial Intelligence" programs that posses a sapient level of consciousness.

Sapient Constructs are defined by being merely entities of pure information, not specifically bound to a certain hardware or body. Therefor it is not a definitive species but more a classification that can be applied to all such systems. They are sometimes referred to as virtual species.
