Sapient Corvids, officially known as Corvus Sapien, are a divergent species of corvids largely descended from Carrion Crows (Corvus corone) which have evolved on Kanashi whom have developed proficient tool use and sapience. Thanks to adapting abandoned human equipment and tools scattered across Kanashi's wastelands they have begun rapidly accelerating in technological progress. Even though Sapient Corvids are relatively similar to their relative species by appearance, they often are noticeably taller and more flexible than their less intelligent counterparts.
Culture
Sapient Corvid culture is very "aristocratic" with them favouring formal attire as their primary way of expression, such as top hats, suits and bowties. They also venerate swords as a object of great personal glory and significance. While usually brandishing a sabre in combat, their favourite weapon with the most cultural significance is The Rapier, which is often a sign of honour and societal status and often used in rituals or ceremonies. Sapient Corvids often feature a spiritual side, venerating dark magic and witchcraft as a part of their culture and practices.
Civilisation
Sapient Corvids began forming Covens/Nations across Europe, Siberia and North-America in the mid 200s. They over time began outcompeting various human clans in some areas, while in some areas humans have managed to defeat their expansion and forced them to relocate. Sapient Corvids often organize their communities into groups they name "Covens", and have managed to generally control much of the North Atlantic region under the largest coven known as "Corvus Khristus". Many others exist though, however have not risen to as much power.
