Sanasiu is a desolate, uninhabitable planet in the Dimogos System in the Empyrium. It has one habitable moon planet, Suwnata. It is an Imperial World managed de facto by the Dimogos Corporation.

Sanasiu is one of the most extreme and anomalous planets known - the lithosphere is nearly entirely sulfurous in composition, and the planet’s core consists of both solid and supercritical liquid mercury, creating a churning asthenosphere of cinnabar (mercury sulfide.) As a result, it is an incredibly crucial source of mercury, and to a lesser extent, sulfur; the former of which has vast applications in Empyrean technological systems. Due to the sulfurous veins scattered across the surface, as well as tectonic activity, large outgassing events from the core release vaporised mercury and sulfur compounds. This creates a toxic, corrosive fog that plumes outwards, forced outwards due to gravity, and forms a temporary thin atmosphere that lingers for weeks. Even in its weak, dissipated form, workers can burn through their suits in an hour, and buildings corrode in six days. Exposure to the concentrated plume guarantees death.

Elemental mercury on the planet is procured through the mining of cinnabar, found in the convecting upper mantle 30 kilometres beneath the surface. As a result, cinnabar mining is incredibly dangerous - if tunnels do not collapse, they often twist and bend out of shape. Safety standards have risen recently, yet it is often labelled as the most dangerous job in the Empyrium, maybe even the galaxy.
