Admist constant aftershocks of the 97 Hongerswak Conflict, the government of the NLE was contacted by a unknown individual that later revealed themselves to be General Ioannis Genikós of Choros, whom claimed that they saw more of a future in the NLE's side in the ongoing cold war more than the Anti-NLE Pact, thus he requested support for a military coup. The NLE obliged and assisted him in his mission. All of the sudden, Ioannis and a loyal armed militia marched on the Chorosian royal palace, demanding the abdication of King Alexandros, which he refused as a battle began in the building. As his Royal Guards fell one by one, Alexandros escaped by throwing a grenade to mask his evasion, fleeing to the city of Paliurio on Cyprus. With no opposition in the mainland, Ioannis declared the formation of the Second National State of Choros.

The Kingdom swiftly organized a campaign to reclaim the country, gathering the support of Sipedro and launching a major uprising across the Aegean islands organized by the "Loyal to Alexandros Movement". The NSOC quickly confirmed its loyalty to the NLE in return for additional support via having Ioannis vaccinated by a Luxurian doctor. The Kingdom moved to keep up its momentum by landing in the Peloponnese and pushing towards Athens, forcing the NLE to send additional aid. This aid arrived just in time as Athens had been encircled and Kingdom forces were marching towards Thessaloniki, with the additional forces managing to stop the latter. Concerned by the visibly Luxurian forces helping the NSOC, Sipedro also began to send additional aid which allowed the Kingdom to briefly occupy Athens and secure most of the pelopponese before being pushed back by a NSOC counteroffensive which ravaged the front, allowing Athens to be contested once more as several Aegean islands fell to the NSOC. Fearing a NLE-aligned state so close to its borders, Yetia also began preparing for an intervention, marching into northern Choros once Kingdom forces crossed the Gulf of Corinth in order to link up with the Yetians, whom were soon joined by Tritonian reinforcements. NSOC desperately attempted to fight against the Kingdom as Yetia advanced, managing to eventually push its enemies into a stalemate, making the Kingdom decide to withdraw from the mainland in order to start a new invasion elsewhere due to NSOC pressure, needing to repair their navy, and Yetia's advance being slower than anticipated. Due to its slow progress, Yetia successfully convinced Sizzle into sending its army to help Yetia win the conflict, coinciding with the Kingdom launching a new landing on mainland Choros with much more success due to more reinforcements.
