Beginning in the Asian Worker's War, the Sarpistani Liberation Front and its allies in the Somali People's Republic had seized significant territories de jure owned by Goldaria and Sarpistan, leading to Eteria joining against them. Seeking to protect their kin, Hongerswak intervened in the side of the SLF in order to avenge their defeat during the East African War. Eteria was unprepared as it had sent most of its forces to attack the Somalis, leading to a standoff on the border with Hongerswak. Eteria and Goldaria launched significant offensives into Somalia while Hongerswak kidnapped foreign scientists to develop more nuclear weapons. After Somalia was defeated, SLF spies uncovered that Eteria was preparing an offensive into Hongerswak. Hayas and Choros grew concerned of the SLF's advances into Mashriqi Sarpistan, prompting them to intervene against the HASATBC. Eteria began its offensive into Hongerswak around the same while they were still working on their second nuke, with its completion being estimated to take roughly 3 months.
