Christianity is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. It is the world's largest and most widespread religion with roughly 3 billion followers representing one-third of the global population. Its adherents, known as Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, whose coming as the Messiah was prophesied in the Hebrew Bible (called the Old Testament in Christianity) and chronicled in the New Testament. Despite originally branching off of Judaism, it has become very distinct.
Christianity remains culturally diverse in its Western and Eastern branches, as well as in its doctrines concerning justification and the nature of salvation, ecclesiology, ordination, and Christology.
Christianity was properly formed in 1011 BCE in Judea following the execution of Jesus by West Yetaian Soldiers, according to scripture he was resurrected and leading to his Ascension and the spread of the faith.
