Narakamians are a semi-tribal species of sapient arthropoid extremophiles which are native to Narakam's vast underground caverns. They only generally inhabit the Caverns and a certain few shielded surface installations as Narakam's surface is completely uninhabitable to a majority of life, as even Narakamians can only survive up there for brief at a time.
In modern times Narakamians primarily inhabit their homeworld, itself a sovereign entity mainly governed by themselves and a few alien[1] colonists in a unified global confederation. Though several centuries in the past the Narakamians were a separate empire on their own right, sending out ships of war across the Alpha Sol System and being arguably more advanced in the field of space warfare than Humanity was. However, this empire was eventually destroyed by the YNF.
Society
Narakamians organize themselves into tribal Clans, each ruled by a chief. These chiefs tend to be older individuals who have been been selected in a list of successors by the preceding chief upon their ascension to the throne. In order to become the "chosen" chief from this list of successors the candidate must complete a series of trials, with the last one to not fail any trials being selected as the new chief. Together these chiefs organized themselves into regional alliances and factions ruled by a council of said chiefs, known as a Kharanda. The Kharandas then operated as a collective leadership for each member of the alliance.
Culture
Narakamians are a notably egocentric people, being primarily focused on their own interests at the cost of other species and the resources of their own planet. This also ties into their tendency in modern geopolitics to be a highly mercantalistic people, selling resources and minerals from their resource-rich home-world to peoples across the galaxy.
75% of Narakamians still live within a tribal lifestyle, adhering to their traditional customs. Despite this even the tribal peoples openly make use of modern technologies.
Biology
Narakamians are an extremophile arthropoid species, having insectoid eyes and exoskeletons that lay as heat-resisting plates over their leathery skin[2]. Narakamians also have a remarkably low level of water in their bodies, with only 12% being water.
