What is YATA?

YATA is a active roleplay/worldbuilding project primarily based in Discord and this Wiki, and formerly also on Minecraft. YATA progresses via 'news' events describing something that has happened, dialogue between characters or nations/organizations, via images depicting events, etc. At modern times the setting is a futuristic/sci-fi (This was not always the case, with sci-fi elements gradually starting in 2023) universe centred around the Milky Way Galaxy, with the previous/original focus being in the 'Alpha Sol System' which contains Yata (Earth under a different name) and Theia (a former rogue planet) as well as various other planets. On this page you can find important information, links to our other sites (Youtube, Discord, Cosmic Wiki), and recommended reading. The first page we would recommend reading is the Yata History Timeline, especially its newer sections, to gain an understanding of the world.

What is this wiki?

This wiki was created to document the lore and history of YATA, due to all of the actual lore progressing on our Discord Server. Not everything is on the wiki yet of course, but much of the lore can already be found here. Lore either consists of nations, their history and their actions or Peoples lives within the Yata Universe. We have multiple discord channels for this purpose. General nation lore and miscellaneous stuff goes in News, Wars and the ensuing image spam form them goes in Wars, and lore regarding characters and their lives within the YATA universe goes in Character Lore, alongside these there are channels for extrasolar civilizations which do not have contact with the nation states of Yata.

"Why is (thing) on here?"

Across the timeline of YATA many people involved in making the lore have included various additions from other franchises they enjoy, which may explain some familiar topics and subjects.

Brief History

Yata was originally Java Minecraft creative server, created on the 25th August 2018 by Hakced. Starting around October 2018 we started creating lore for it, with some worldbuilding and nations. This lore overtime expanded in scope, becoming a massive collaborative project. Since then, the Minecraft Server and Lore have been separated from each other, in the process partly opening up the "lore" side of the community to anyone who follows the rules and wants to contribute.

Important Details

How do I make an account?

In order to get an account on YATA Wiki, contact "hakced" (Owner of the Wiki/Discord) on discord via either pinging or DMs and ask for an account alongside specifying the username you want, and in most cases you will be provided a password and username to log in. Afterwards, you will be able to change your password if you want.

How do I participate?

You can either fully forego the nation-RP segment and interact with the world thru groups or characters, or you can either create a new Extrasolar or Skantoan country, or alternatively ask for control over a nation on Yata, Theia, or another part of the Yatan-Theian Accord if you want a specifically Human or human-adjacent nation to control/worldbuild.

Lore/Wiki Rules

General Rules

Be Respectful
No Slurs
No Racism/Homophobia/Transphobia/Xenophobia
Don't be unnecessarily mean (Jokes among friends are fine, but bullying isn't.)
Don't take enforcement of rules as a personal attack, it is simply to make Yata Lore more enjoyable.

Writing Rules

Keep things consistent with the lore.
Be fair, and keep things restrained to the expected power/technology level of the planet or area the nation resides in.
Don't make overpowered characters without a proper reason for them to be so powerful. (Including actual power or just unreasonable proficiency with a task for no good reason.)
Don't kill off other people's OCs instantly without permission. (Example; (Blank) kills (Blank) , instead of something like (Blank) shoots (Blank), leave it more ambiguous for the other person.)
Keep stuff serious, and don't just make a bunch of meme nations or characters (You are allowed to have meme characters sure, but dont make them being a meme the only character trait.)
Keep nation sizes and populations realistic to the species & time
If people establish something in their lore, don't just go "actually my (blank) can/can't do that" actually try to follow it so the narrative makes more sense
If people are doing a storyline, don't try to hijack it and force it to fit yours without permission.
If someone has a closed story (as in only they write it) don't forcefully interject into it without permission.

Content Rules

Refrain from directly using copyrighted materials within the Wiki. Names or factions sharing names with pre-existing content is 'fine', but refrain from using copyrighted images on the wiki. You are able to link in images thru Wikimedia Commons if you really want to use such content, but we would generally recommend that you or a friend design desired assets yourself. Additionally, using AI-generated assets is generally discouraged.
