Corporate Trading Algorithm Mk. II, also known as CTA Mk.II, is a interstellar machine intelligence that currently operates as the 'acting-director' and sole inhabitant of the Corporate Management Commission. CTA Mk.II was initially developed by its homeworld's now extinct organic population to assist in managing their free-market economy, only to be left the sole survivor of their extinction event.
Following the extinction of its creators, CTA Mk.II's simple and restrictive programming would eventually lead it to become akin to a Paperclip Maximizer, becoming eternally devoted to the production of various resources and items that it believes would 'sell well' on its homeworld, leading to it expanding out into space in order to acquire more and more resources to satisfy its perceived goals.
CTA Mk.II is only intelligent enough as it deems necessary to complete its tasks, which has thus far discouraged it from greatly investing in improving its intelligence.
