The Kathostolian Republic, also commonly known as the 'Corporate Management Commission', is an interstellar machine intelligence located within the Beta Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy. The CMC's homeworld was once home to an organic race known as the Kathostolians, whom went extinct in the past, leaving only their technology behind. Out of these discarded technologies, the pre-eminent one would end up being the 'Corporate Trading Algorythm Mk.II', an artificial intelligence entrusted with much of their former economic system, allowing it to assume the role of 'acting leader' of the planet once all others had been wiped out. Due to its limited scope and strict guidelines, CTA Mk.II would soon devolve to being akin to a paperclip maximiser as it began sifting through countless extraterrestrial objects to satisfy the markets with more capital, not realising the only 'being' left was itself. While initially fairly limited in its size, upon the advent of FTL Crafts and drones the CMC has begun spreading throughout space, shredding all civilisations that have come in its path.
Government and Politics
The CMC functionally lacks any sort of government as CTA Mk.II directly rules the nation in its entirety in all its facets, though despite this it still does de jure have some sort of government. The sole 'operating' branch of the Kathostolian government is the Corporate Management Commission, which during pre-extinction times was a board responsible for managing and stabilising the planetary economy, which CTA Mk.II was a key member of.
Alongside the Corporate Management Commission, another 'institution' that CTA Mk.II has effectively seized control over is the 'Kathostolis Global Market', which is the primary platform in which it processes its internal transactions.

History
Prior to their extinction, Kathostolis was home to a globe-spanning civilisation inhabited by the Kathostolians. This civilisation was notable for its capitalist economics and investment into various technological fields to enhance these processes. In 198 an unknown catastrophic event[2] lead to the Kathostolians going extinct, leaving CTA Mk.II as the only survivor of the catastrophe.
In 283 the CMC began its first expansion beyond its home system, seizing control over the Nythal, Yaima, and Fennos systems as a part of the Preliminary Extrakathosian Expansion Project.
The first time the CMC was discovered following its extinction event was in 335 , as an exploration fleet from the Galactic Federation managed to encounter it, noting that its 'homeworld' was in complete ruins while drones scoured its solar system for resources. While contact was attempted with it. the Federation failed to receive any kind of coherent response.
In 336 HAWK came across the CMC and infiltrated it to take note of its current capabilities, learning that its continuous loop of selling resources to itself would soon be coming to an impasse as Kathostolis and the other planets within its solar system had begun running critically low on resources, prompting CTA Mk.II to begin working towards space-travel and siphoning resources from other systems. Deciding to make use of this situation, HAWK began silently siphoning off portions of the CMC's resource productions while additionally tricking it into producing equipment for HAWK, disguising each of these operations as new trade operations.
In 366 HAWK completed its long-term threat evaluation of the CMC, noting that while it had devastated its own system, it was not a likely threat to any other major sentient civilisations at the time as long as economic approaches to contact with the CMC were undertaken. Additionally due to the CMC being known of by some other interstellar civilisations its access to HAWK blueprints was revoked, and instead re-instructed to simply produce alloys that HAWK would assemble itself.
In a major economic output report in 395 CTA Mk.II evaluated the Preliminary Extrakathosian Expansion Project had become inefficient due to dwindling resources being available to its Production Initiatives in each system, leading to increased costs and fuel requirements to a variety of the CMC's current projects and drone maintenance programs. In order to correct this situation CTA Mk.II approved of the Greater Extrakathosian Expansion Project, a new initiative with the aim of incorporating additional systems and planets under the CMC in order to solve the current production issues and resource deficiencies. In order to achieve this project the CMC's fleet of S.R.I.D instances were updated and reactivated with the aim of launching them into nearby starsystems, having them replicate across each system, construct necessary infrastructure, and launch onto the next planet once standard units arrived on scene to begin extraction and production projects.
This situation was quickly noticed by HAWK, which moved in to evaluate the risk posed by the expansion project. During these efforts several pre-FTL and primitive societies were noted to be in immediate risk of being encountered by the CMC. In response to this HAWK reorganized its nearby assets and set up an early warning system in case of CTA Mk.II's drones coming across a inhabited world. 3 major candidates for contact were additionally taken note of, a industrial-era one on the planet Nattos, a bronze-age one on the planet Hildare, and a information-age one on the planet Diprona.
In 396 CTA Mk.II completed modernizing the S.R.I.D instances, and promptly initiated their launch towards extranational space with the goal of arriving in a target system, beginning replication, constructing necessary installations and infrastructure, and initiating the manufacturing of other drone models. Following their completion of these tasks and achieving self-sufficiency, the S.R.I.D units were to construct new launch facilities and move onto the next world to repeat the process. Following their launch the S.R.I.D instances began arriving at their target systems in 398 and developing them, swiftly integrating the Tendal, Jorania, and Lemoa systems into the CMC. Following these systems becoming self-sufficient, a new generation of S.R.I.Ds were launched once more, with one group heading directly towards Nattos.
In 411 the S.R.I.D Instances reached the planet Koitane and developed it as expected, though a series of unusual occurrences were noted during their attempts to develop the planet Nattos, as the various drones present on the planet kept reporting 'unusual animals' observing them, and eventually becoming hostile towards them until they were driven out with lethal force. What the drones were not aware of however, was that these were not 'animals', but instead a wholly sentient alien race which had initially observed them out of curiosity and confusion, only to turn to violence once towns began to be eaten up by the drones, only to be culled like animals until they eventually were forced to cease hostilities out of lack of hope, with the only thing that provably slowed down the CMC being devices provided by HAWK-aligned agents that acted as a currency that CTA Mk.II recognised as 'valid'.
