The Caucasian League, also sometimes known as Caucasia, The League, or rarely South Tritonia, was a confederacy of 14 Republics in the Caucasus region, stretching from Circassia in the north to Hayastan in the south. It seceded from the larger Tritonian Confederacy in 315 CE, and existed in relative peace aside from a couple interventions such as the Alhayatian-Apothilene War and the Insurgency in Halmigla. The Caucasian League joined The Confederacy in 383 CE, with all of its republics being members of said confederacy for 14 Years until its second secession in the Treaty of Grozny, restoring The Caucasian League, though smaller than it used to be. Later on the Caucasian League joined the Yatan Commonwealth following the Yerevan Conference.
History
- The Caucasian League was first established in 315 CE during a major political crisis in the Tritonian Confederacy, seceding shortly after the Ruthenian Confederacy did.
- In 329 the Republic of Hayastan, an internal polity of the League, assisted Apothelis in its conflict with Alhayat, leading to the two Shrjans of Rize-Hayas and Kars-Hayas being added to the Caucasian League.
- From 375 to 376 there was a largescale insurgency in the Caucasian Republics of Halmigla and South Halmigla, which ended up pushing Halmigla to the point of agreeing to rebel-occupied regions seceding from the League, due to a lack of intervention from the central government over fears of escalation.
- In 382 the Caucasian League held a referendum regarding whether or not it should join the upcoming Eurasian Confederacy, which while incredibly controversial, did end in a vote in favour of joining.
- The Caucasian League seceded from The Confederacy in 397 following the Treaty of Grozny as the Confederacy was rapidly collapsing around it.
- Joined the Yatan Commonwealth following the Yerevan Conference and a subsequent referendum in 350.
Government and Politics
The Caucasian League is a Confederal Directoral Republic, with the president of each Member Republic being a member of a college of leaders that jointly exercise the powers of the head of state. Each member-Republic is highly autonomous, with the central government only being responsible for inter-republic matters and collective defence. The Republics are granted permission to engage in their own military matters and even foreign policy if they so desire.
