The Quhanim[1] (Known as the "Qu Empire" by Non-Qu) is a nomadic extragalactic empire, which has travelled to and from various galaxies. They are known to have destroyed countless civilisations, and then proceeded to manipulate the genetics of those they subjugated to a fit within their fundamentalist worldview. Despite the term "Qu Empire" being used by non-Qu to refer to their "nation", the Qu themselves do not see themselves as a nation state[2] or empire, but rather as a crusade or movement with the goal of purifying the universe in the ways that they deem necessary.
The Quhanim initially originated in the Triangulum Galaxy billions of years ago, evolving into a nomadic horde of sorts after conquering their home galaxy, as they began traveling from galaxy to another in epoch-spanning migrations. During their travels they have consistently improved and changed themselves to the point they are as near to 'physical perfection' as they were able to get, which was achieved with their mastery of nanotechnology and genetic manipulation. Once this level of technological advancement was achieved, they assumed a religious, self-imposed mission to “remake the universe in their image”. This dogma is rooted in what had once been a benevolent attempt to protect the race from fracturing into warring states. However, blind, unquestioning obedience has made The Qu into a force of chaos and destruction.
Society and Beliefs
The Quhanim follows the agenda of their self-worshipping religiocentric faith that glorifies their own genetic supremacy and right to remake the species of the universe in their own image. To serve this religious purpose, they function like a nomadic horde, swooping into galaxies they come across and wrecking havoc, seizing control of the galaxy in a large migratory wave. These migratory waves often are not able to contact each other due to distance, therefore they act mostly autonomously from each other, with occasional transport of resources and orders through courier worldships.
In their 'divine mission' to 'remake the universe' they have remorselessly altered countless species in proportion to their crimes against The Qu's supposed divine mission, taking things such as the mere act of sapience, causing extinctions, or resisting the Qu to These other sapient species are seen as mere objects to be rebuilt into "practical" or entertaining forms. Greater criminals against the Qu are made into a form that gives them a tortured existence. Despite all of this, The Qu are not truly evil or full of hate to all other lifeforms, but are instead merely far too indoctrinated by their own religion and extremist beliefs.
Technology
The Quhanim is extremely technologically advanced, considering they are one of the only known polities capable of crossing between galaxies. Their weaponry is incredibly advanced, persevering and winning against weapons capable of destroying entire star systems. Their most notable and advanced technology is their genetic manipulation technology, which is capable of altering existing lifeforms into an array of different forms, even removing sapience. This is accomplished via utilizing advanced nanotechnological drones.
Quhanim Spacefleet
The Quhanim Spacefleet is composed of hundreds of billions of different spacecrafts used for both combat purposes and travel from one location to another. A vast majority of these crafts are built to operate out of atmosphere, and are thus rarely if ever landed onto a planet's surface.
All Quhanim Ships are constructed in what is known as the "Qu Production Field", a highly customizable and adaptable shipyard template designed by The Qu capable of mass producing more typical inanimate ships with rapid pace, while also having several growing fields for Bioships to be grown and fitted with modifications.
Name | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
Idiolatry-Class | Dreadnought | A larger warship primarily used in combat situations with enemy civilisations who focus on bulky or large spacecraft designs. These are designed to exploit the weaknesses of larger ships, while avoiding the disadvantage of being simply "out-sized" by an opponent. |
Larvae-Class | Frigate | A smaller bioship primarily used in a support role in combat situations or as a smaller transport craft for individual Qu or supplies. |
(Standard) Progenitor-Class | Worldship | A fairly generic techno-biological worldship designed to house entire self-sustaining communities within them. A majority of the Qu Population as a whole lives permanently in Progenitor-Classes or other ships like them. Primarily used as habitats during intersystem and intergalactic, but also is armed enough to often be seen in combat situations. Several specialized variants have been created overtime for different purposes. |
Modified Progenitor-Class (Cargo) | Cargoship | A specialized variant of the Progenitor-Class with larger storage bays. Primarily used for transport of supplies from one location to another[3]. |
Modified Progenitor-Class (Carrier) | Carrier | A specialized variant of the Progenitor-Class with several[4] larger hangar bays. Primarily used in combat situations due to them often carrying a large starfighter compliment. |
Modified Progenitor-Class (Warship) | Dreadnought | A specialized variant of the Progenitor-Class with larger and more powerful weapons arsenals. Primarily used in combat situations due to their highly powerful weaponry. |
Modified Progenitor-Class (Habitat) | Worldship | A specialized variant of the Progenitor-Class with a focus on much larger habitat sectors. Generally stays out of combat situations due to being lightly armed, therefore they are usually used as a 'larger' version of the standard Progenitor, housing notably larger communities. A few do still see combat though as field hospitals or mobile laboratories. |
Quforme-1 | Syncretic | A smaller spacecraft used mainly for espionage and terraforming. |
Tetraship-Class | Destroyer | A larger warship with an unusual pyramid design. Tetraships are designed purely for warfare purposes, acting as both frontline combat ships and scouting ships. |
History
Pre-Interstellar Era
The Qu began their existence as a insectoid species 4 billion years ago on a planet named Puwon-2 in the Triangulum Galaxy[5]. They rose to sentience roughly 3.9 Billion years ago following a mass extinction event on their home planet.
The Qu managed to rather quickly begin developing technology during their initial phase of Nation States much like humanity, until their eventual unification once they gained interstellar travel and the capability to colonise other worlds. During these incursions they encountered several other intelligent species, however all of them were wiped out. Their early united society was fairly stable, allowing them to often gain the upper hand against other developing civilisations. During this time they also mastered genetic engineering and nanotechnology, which still are still in common use.
Birth of the Crusade
As their galaxy became more and more populated by their own kind, as all other species were eventually wiped out they began slowly drifting back towards factionalism. This had to be prevented by finding some kind of unifying factor, which in their case ended up being religion. An egocentric[6] religion over time formed among the populace, due to their apparent superiority over other civilisations in Triangulum. This religion was eventually adopted as state policy by their unified government, and overtime this intentional decision to become a theocracy became forgotten to time, and it was thus accepted as fact. This religion spread rapidly until it became law, any who disagreed with it were forced to conform or be wiped out.
Gods of the cosmos
Following all of this, the newly theocratic Qu began seeing themselves as gods. They re-instilled life in their galaxy, using their mastery of genetic manipulation to become creators. The Qu created ecosystems and life, pitting the species against each other or made them pets. They were kind, cruel and creative. Life flourished in the Triangulum Galaxy under the Quhanim's direction.
At some point they decided they no longer had reason to remain in their home galaxy so the religious leaders of The Quhanim made a simple decree; No more life was to exist in their galaxy after their departure, they unleashed self-replicating drones equipped with evolving code into their galaxy with one instruction; to wipe out life in their galaxy. This process would take billions, if not tens of billions of years but The Qu did not intend to wait to see it through, beginning their first travel towards another galaxy.
Onwards into the local group
The Qu slowly spread across the Local Group, quickly dominating each galaxy upon arrival such as Barnard's Galaxy (NGC 6822), the Taurus - Centaurus Galaxy. Many civilisations were destroyed and rebuilt in the Qu's image during these conquests, purging them of what they deem impure and then moving on to the next after settling down in their conquered lands for some time. As of now there are at least 4 known galaxies they have visited, these being Barnard's Galaxy (NGC 6822), the Taurus - Centaurus Galaxy, The Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way, in addition to their home galaxy of course.
469 thousand years ago, they sent an expedition into the Milky Way Galaxy. Unfortunately for them they were unable to completely conquer the galaxy, being beaten back by The Current Galaxy and the deteriorating but still powerful Solar Empire. Following this they left the Milky Way and began focusing on a slow campaign across the Andromeda Galaxy with an intention of some day returning to the Milky Way. They sent a small expedition to see if The Galaxy would still act against them in the case of a 2nd invasion in the year 264, destroying the Martian Empire to probe reactions. They then left afterwards, retreating their forces alongside the captured martians to the planet Zakarra-Prime, in which they began preparing for their full on invasion, alongside experimenting with the genomes present in the Milky Way.
They launched their second full on invasion in the Year 333[7], rampaging through much of the galaxy until eventually retreating their forces from the galaxy due to logistical strain and never ending attacks from local civilisations causing significant casualties to the invasion force. The evacuated forces escaped to an unspecified redoubt point in the Ra Satellite Galaxy, which was also eventually wiped out following a surprise invasion by HAWK.
While the original concept of The Qu is rooted from ripped/inspired concent, a majority of the information regarding them (other than basic biological and ideological tenets) is original content.
