The Progenitor-Class Worldship is a fairly generic biotechnological Quhanim Worldship that has served in their fleet for much of their history, first being developed for their initial migration out of the Triangulum Galaxy. Progenitor-Classes are built with a combination of organic and mechanical technology imposed on a specially bred bioship base, together controlled and mediated by molecular nanodrones.

Despite their use in warfare and their considerable arsenal, Progenitor-Classes are not considered 'warships' by the Qu themselves, but rather as traveling homes and temples. For all intents and purposes, Progenitor-Classes and other ships like them are the true 'homes' of the Qu Species, with most of them inhabiting such crafts instead of planet-side cities or constructions.

Specialized versions of progenitor-classes are also occasionally produced, designated as 'Modified Progenitor-Classes', which generally had expanded attributes such as larger cargo bays, larger weapons arsenals, or larger habitat quarters.

Engine & Power Systems

The internal systems of the ships are powered via nuclear fusion reactors primarily for their efficiency and ease of use. Though these may often be swapped out for less efficient powering systems during intergalactic flights[2] designed to pertain to long-duration energy generation. Additionally to these reactors the bioship can extend wings[3] which can draw in energy from stars should the ship be in range. The wings are also utilised for guiding hydrogen used for ramscooping by guiding hydrogen and helium from interstellar space and stellar winds to systems responsible for this process in the ship's "mouth", from which the material is re-guided to the engines in order to be processed into fuel for the fusion reactors. A Fan-like tail structure at the rear of the rear of the ship is used to radiate excess heat from the reactors and engines.

Much like most other Qu Ships the Progenitor-Class is equipped with a standard Infinity-Drive, a eclectic FTL method designed to warp in order to rapidly push the ship through spacetime without the need for isolation bubbles or transit dimensions. Though the Progenitor's Sub-FTL systems are much more unique compared to most other Qu ships, as it utilises an "Inertia Manipulation System" designed to negate the Higgs effect from affecting the ship. This technology initially took very long to develop and later on master, but once it was ships using it have been capable of reaching up to 99% of the speed of light.

Habitats

A large portion of the ships interior space is allocated for living and recreational spaces stacked on top of each other much like the floors of a sky scraper beginning at the tail[4]. These habitats include numerous facilities such as:

  • Spawning Pools: Deep water pools in which adolescent Qu were spawned to spend their initial aquatic stage of life. These spaces are also used for mating and courtship.
  • Nanodrone Vats: Vats in which Nanodrones and other self-replicating nanotechnological devices are grown and given matter in order to reproduce in a safe environment. Also used for programming the technology itself.
  • Shrines: Rooms designated for religious use. Used for sermons involving the Qu's genetic superiority, alongside where the 'holy act' of genetic modification of themselves and other species is performed.
  • Living Quarters: The individual living spaces of the Qu. These are generally small, comfortable spaces filled with objects of significance to the individual residing there. These are also often off limits to those not close to the individual.
  • Hangar Bays: Hangar bays for stationing and launching various smaller crafts, either being located in sealed areas on the sides of the ship or through the ship's mouth.

Armament

Progenitor-Classes have several munitions systems built into them, though out of these systems the 2 'primary weapons' are a anti-matter missile launcher system, and a laser node system.

Each individual missile launcher is capable of firing several times per minute, functioning via mechanical action and magnetic acceleration to repel the missile while compressing it, effectively 'spitting' them out. The missiles themselves are fairly simple, being fairly typical fusion rockets with a length of about 98 meters. Though the true destructive capabilities of these missiles lie in their multiple different sub-munitions which can be loaded onto the missile itself. The most used of these sub-munitions is a nanotechnological payload composed of combat nanodrones. After impacting a target, these nanodrones are designed to burrow into it via self-replicating out of the ship itself, then attempt to seize control over the ship's mechanical or biological[5] components in order to effectively hijack the ship, turning it against its own fleet. If this hijacking scheme fails, the nanodrones revert to simple replication commands, devouring the ship from inside out. Other sub-munitions include the likes of antimatter bombs and EMPs.

The laser node systems have 2 primary uses, with the first being as a targeting and detection system by passively hitting a target in order to record its precise position, and the second being electromagnetic laser beams used as a form of air-defence to prevent enemy weapons from ever hitting the ship.

Other defences a Progenitor-Class possesses include the likes of a heavily armoured metamaterial shell, and a electromagnetic shielding system utilising rapidly alternating currents to redirect incoming fire.

  1. Of which roughly 17km is habitable
  2. Going between galaxies takes a while.
  3. As in literal organic wings.
  4. Considering the Qu are an airborne species, most progenitors lack artificial gravity in order to not expend too much energy for movement, only having minimal amounts pointing gravity towards the rear of the ship in order to keep objects in place.
  5. Including onboard passengers.
