The Ra Galaxy is the third largest and second-most distant of the Milky Way Galaxy's primary satellite galaxies, being distant enough to be largely inaccessible to most interstellar civilizations apart from the few with inter-galactic travel technologies such as The Quhanim and HAWK due to fuel constraints and travel times. The Ra Galaxy is thus far home to no native major interstellar civilizations, although evidence of ones that existed in the path before being encountered by, and promptly wiped out by The Quhanim during their usage of the region as a 'redoubt' for their operations in the Milky Way Galaxy. Following their eviction from the galaxy, HAWK has set up control over the Galaxy and begun various uplift projects among the galaxy's various Pre-FTL sapient species, who have over recent times begun rapid technological development thanks to these interventions.

The Ra Galaxy is divided primarily by HAWK's own internal divisions, though five quadrants known as the 'Beta Quadrant' to the east , the 'Alpha Quadrant' to the south, the 'Delta Quadrant' to the west, the 'Gamma Quadrant' to the north, and the 'Core Quadrant' in the middle. The secondary method of regional categorization are the Grid Coordinates ranging from A-F in the X axis and 1-6 in the Z axis.
