New Senkai City is the largest city and capital of the Erimosian Republic (Senkai), and a major city within the Theian Federation with a population of 3.4 million. It was founded in 288 CE by Chorosian colonists to the immediate north of the Mausoleum of Erekutorum and the ancient neighbouring city of Erimos. Situated on the coastal desert west of the Ereku Cad Mountains, it also harbors four artificial "peninsulas" and extends onto the nearby island of Lekanya. It is the nation's primate city, being nearly four times more populous than the second largest city, Volanta.
New Senkai City is one of the wealthiest cities on Theia, having one of the highest billionaire populations. It is known for its striking modern and monochromatic architecture, creating a "crystalline" look from afar juxtaposed by the desert landscape. It is home to the Orientalis Mining Corporation, the Jalia Building Society, and the headquarters of the Senkai Railway. The Port of New Senkai City is considered the foremost gateway to the eastern Jalia Ocean region, with almost all major ports in the area having passenger and freight services to the city. It also handles trains that connect to insular networks, such as the Deanglass Railway. It is a major cruise port and a major destination for cruises itself. The city has one international airport located on Lekanya Island, which facilitates the city's role as a major tourist destination. The city is connected by the Senkai Railway to Kevralesti, Anticelenderis and is also connected directly as far as Keldryk, Savalonia and Sanctus, Gensokyo.
Other than the Mausoleum, the city is home to the Senkai TV tower (which is one of the tallest of its kind), Baiame Gate, the Statue of Pilirin in Senkai, and the Jasmine Gardens. However, the nearby city of Erimos (which it essentially borders) is the major tourist destination, being one of the best preserved pre-Cataclysm settlements known for its rich Baiamean history and religious dedication to the Gods. New Senkai City, as a result of its immense wealth, is often regarded by outsiders as a "playground for the rich", and some see the city's striking architecture as being in poor taste given the relative deprivation of other more historic Senkish cities, such as Antikenosia.
