Ever since the Kaurian Coup, the Chiefdom of Kauria had been led by the eclectic 'Big Chungus' while the status quo was maintained. All of the sudden, everything changed as Big Chungus proclaimed that the destiny of the nation was to conquer his homeland of Yetia to rid it of democracy back towards a path of fascist conquest, reorganizing Kauria into the 'Realm of Hyperborea'. As may be expected, this was incredibly unpopular among the people of Kauria as while his rule may of been tolerable at best, deciding to throw away their nation was a step too far as the 'Akiqattuq Movement' was formed. Riots rocked the streets of Niaqoq for weeks as the military tried to keep the peace despite the situation growing tenser and tenser until the army had enough and fired onto the crowd, leading to massive skirmishes as the Akiqattuq were declared to be terrorists that were to be arrested and executed, which was the last straw as a full-scale rebellion broke out throughout the country.
The countryside quickly fell to the Akiqattuq due to the lack of a significant military presence, forcing the military to rush in to crush the revolts. Seeing a chance to crush an authoritarian government, Yetia organized the Liberty Pact to launch an interventioon in favour of the Akiqattuq, dragging all of its allies to help fight the Hyperboreans as their armies landed in Baffin Island. Yetia pestered its allies to arrive quicker as it preached about spreading democracy so People wouldn't need to live in fear anymore. Liberty Pact and western Akiqattuq forces stormed the Baffin lowlands as Big Chungus fled to Ganaqq, prompting the Baffin armies to begin indiscriminate massacres. Hyperborea's luck quickly changed as Catania joined the Liberty Pact so that it may seize Nunavik, prompting Omnistat to begin considering what actions it should take. Catania quickly seized mainland Nunavut and Nunavik, leaving only the defence of Niaqoq standing.
