Arthur Blackwood was a Mentabolist of the Order of the Metal Mind. After a few years of serving as an asset, he volunteered to be assigned to the Confederacy of Independent Systems as replacement for the previous communicator William Hammet who came to inhabit the role less through planning by the Order and more through the circumstances at the time.
