Laconia is a terrestrial world located in the Outer Rim. It was formerly part of the Empyrium, and was its northernmost integrated member of the collective, and the only integrated member located in the Outer Rim. A cool, barren planet with little surface water, Laconia is covered in a dense atmosphere that blankets the surface in a thick blue haze. It is heavily mountainous with negligible arable land, and is home to a burgeoning colony that was established in 452 CE. Under the Empyrium, Laconia was a system world under direct Imperial rule, whose unyielding authority all but restricted personal and economic freedoms. As such, the planet's inhabitants are functionally destitute, but they did receive a great deal of care from the Imperial System that managed their lifes, albeit aid was sometimes received from free worlds like Iophiuchi. As a colony world, it was seldom thought about in the wider Empyrium, that was until many Laconians were killed in the self-orchestrated Sentor Banquet Incident - the catalyst for their secession in 474 CE.
