The Intergalactic Defense Initiative[1], often also known simply as the IDI, was a defence alliance between several nations within the Milky Way Galaxy initially formed in order to combat The Quhanim's second largescale invasion of their galaxy. Following the conclusion of this conflict, the IDI was left largely without purpose for several decades, leading to its eventual reorganization and merger into the Galactic Community as its military arm.
