Blargs are a sentient species of amorphous slime-like beings known to inhabit artificial mineral-based bodies that inhabit a region of space known as the Blarg Republic within the Alpha Quadrant of the Milky Way. While generally accepted by most species of the galaxy, including themselves, as a species native to the swamps of Blarra Prime, the Blargs were initially created in the distant past by the Imperium of Kings as a part of a series of experiments to augment their genome to regain their immortality, which failed as while they did attain some-sort of biological immortality, they lost their physical forms and turned into their modern animate fluid-like forms. Many Blargs managed to eventually escape from their experimentation, migrating to the far-away planet of Blarra Prime where they built a civilisation of their own.
Biology
Life Cycle
Blargs have a rather unusual lifecycle centred around asexual reproduction by a specific caste of their species. This caste, the 'Spreader' caste, plants a 'Blargfruit' into the ground which during its growth process creates Blargfluid inside of it, which eventually emerges into a newborn Blarg. Young Blargs later go on to inhabit an bipedal artificial body typically composed of rocks and minerals.
Nutrition
Blargs tend to consume energy-rich foods purely for survival purposes instead of enjoyment, since their lack of taste-buds has discouraged them from developing any semblence of a dietary culture.. These foods generally are plant-based, and are placed into their main natural body where it is dissolved and converted into energy.
Caste System
Blargs are biologically and socially divided into a number of castes based around various functions they are to preform in society;
| Name | Specialization | Colour | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advisor | Government | Dark Gray | Tasked with advising high-ranking Blargs when it comes to important decisions. |
| Builder | Construction, Manufacturing | Gray, Brown | Tasked with constructing buildings and machines. |
| Cannoneer | Military, Research, Manufacturing | Black | Tasked with manning large weapons such as cannons on larger ships and the development of new cannons/explosives. |
| Commander | Military | Yellow | Tasked with commanding individual armies. |
| Earth | Construction, Military, Manufacturing | Pale Brown | Tasked with gathering raw materials, warfare, construction, and mining. Granted excavation-related abilities. |
| Electricity | Energy, Military | Black, Yellow | Tasked with powering machines, or in rare cases warfare. Granted electricity-generation abilities. |
| Farmer | Food, Population | Yellow | Tasked with growing food and tending to Blargfruit. |
| Flame | Construction, Military, Manufacturing, Civil Service, Food | Red, White | Tasked with functions such as warfare, welding, fire-fighting, etc. Granted fire-manipulation abilities. |
| General | Military | Green | Tasked with army groups and strategies. |
| Hunter | Food | Pale Yellow | Tasked with culling wildlife and combatting non-sentient threats. |
| King | Government | Yellow | The former leader of the Blargs able to command any individual Blarg, although they have as of now been deposed. |
| Laser | Military, Energy, Construction, Manufacturing | Red, Yellow | Tasked with various jobs such as warfare, construction, manufacturing, and producing Energy. Granted laser-generation abilities. |
| Lava | Construction, Military, Manufacturing | Red, Orange | Used for a variety of tasks, similar to Flame blargs although much more used in military or terraforming uses. Granted lava-manipulation abilities. |
| Messenger/Diplomat | Government, Civil Service | White | Tasked with delivering messages and communications. |
| Pilot | Military, Transport | Light Blue | Tasked with piloting Spacecrafts or other transports for the military, government, and civilians. |
| President | Government | Dark Blue | Leader of the Blarg Republic tasked with ruling the nation and diplomacy. |
| Prime Minister | Government | Light Blue | Second in command of the Blarg Republic tasked with internal affairs. |
| Regular Blargs | Unspecialized | Blue | Normal Civilians that do non-specialized jobs in society. |
| Robot | Military, Construction, Protection, Transport, Manufacturing, Civil Service | Teal | Mechanical Blargs created for a variety of functions. |
| Scientist | Research, Government | White | Tasked with scientific and technological research. |
| Secretary of the Military | Government | Green | In charge of the army as a whole alongside wars themselves. |
| Secretary of the Treasury | Government | Red | In charge of the Blarg Republic's banks, monetary policy, and anti-corruption efforts. |
| Security (Guard) | Protection, Military | Red | Tasked with guarding important individuals or locations. |

| Soldier | Military | Gray | Tasked with fighting in wars. |
| Spreader | Population | Pale Magenta, Light Blue | Tasked with creating new Blargs by seeding arable lands with Blargfruit. |
| Teacher | Research, Education | Black, Purple | Teach young Blargs and new Scientiests. |
| Water | Construction, Military, Energy, Transport, Manufacturing, Civil Service, Food, Population | Pale Blue | Tasked with a variety of tasks, most notably watering food and Blargfruit. Granted water-manipulation abilities. |
