The Nislandian Range Superorganism, sometimes colloquially known as the "Mystery Flesh Pit", is a vast subterranean superorganism belonging to the interstellar Immanis Colosseus species south of the Nislandian Range mountains in north-eastern Theia. The internal environment of the Superorganism itself and portions of the surrounding area are governed as the 'Nislandian Range Superorganism National Preserve' with special usage rights granted to the members of the Superorganism Management Committee.
The Superorganism was first discovered following the conclusion of a major SDS-028 event in 212 following the unexpected collapse of a large hill within the Saimaa Valley[1] in Osania, revealing one of the 'entry orifices' of the Superorganism for the first time. Following this event the nations of Gensokyo, Iujadogia, and Osania established the Gensokyo-Iujadogia-Osania Research Committee to study the superorganism, promptly granting special access rights to the Anodyne corporation in order to gain significant profit from tourism alongside preventing the SDS Foundation from seizing control of the Superorganism due to its publicity, which they feared would occur due to the presence of several unusual anomalous properties within the Superorganism. Archaeological studies have found various artefacts within the upper regions of the Superorganism that have been dated back to Pre-Cataclysm times on Theia, though the true age of the Superorganism is largely unknown.
The Nislandian Range Superorganism is the sole individual of its species to be found this far away from their homeworld of Rokath in the Outer Rim, though based on what is known the Superorganism is either not mature enough to begin reproduction (which its species appears to accomplish through some kind of spores) or said process would require another individual of its species to be nearby or some-kind of spore-based genetic material transfer. The Nislandian Range Superorganism however is not the sole individual of its species to exist on Theia as the calcified remains of another individual named the West Aquilean Plateau Superorganism[2] have been found further westward, whom likely was either a sibling or the parent of the Nislandian Range Superorganism.
Tourism
The Nislandian Range Superorganism, beyond merely scientific studies, is arguably even more notable in the field of tourism as countless individuals every year come to visit the Superorganism and its countless resorts such as the Upper and Lower Visitor Centres in order to experience the various luxuries and experiences to be found within the Superorganism.
Access into the Superorganism for commercial purposes is typically accomplished via the robust gondola system constructed into the Entry Orifice, allowing easy and efficient access through the difficult to navigate vertical environment.
