The Interplanetary Network is a vast sprawl of space-stations within the Alpha Sol System that act as one of the main population centres in the system alongside its planetary settlements, spanning a range of orbits around each of the planets and Alpha Sol itself which together house a population of roughly 28 million people. How organized these Space-Stations are greatly varied from region to region, with more dense regions typically being orderly, registered, and under more direct government supervision, while many more fringe stations operate as more of a chaotic mess where administration is typically up to whomever owns the station as the only notable oversight would usually be occasional check ups by officials.

Some of these stations are Government-run, serving for military-use, civilian habitation, for imprisonment, or various other reasons. Some are independent, often being corporate-run, but many function as 'nations' onto themselves. Some are designed for those running from governing bodies or are silently working against them, some are bases of criminal syndicates, some are abandoned, and much much more.

Government and Politics

The Confederated Stations of Alpha Sol is the predominant governing body which de jure lays claim over a majority of the Interplanetary Network, though certain stations are regardless under Accord, CIS, or Planetary-Government rule. The CSAS was established in 498 CE following the Second Concordance, replacing the previous 'system' of Stations largely being under whatever governing body happened to have been responsible for creating them. A few years following the Second Concordance a largescale meeting was held on Unity Station with representatives from countless Stations within the Network, leading to the signing of the 'Unity Station Agreement' which joined all of them under the CSAS. Many stations are governed as both represented members of the CSAS and properties of other polities thanks to how decentralized the CSAS is.

The CSAS administratively is a loose confederation where each station is considered a 'Member-Station' of the confederation, and are all thus entitled to one representative they may appoint or elect to the 'Assembly of Alpha Sol Stations', from which a 'Union-Speaker' (Head of State/Government) can be elected by the joint confidence of all stations in order to represent their collective interests. The Assembly's institutional power is not very intensive to the point that Stations may opt out of certain laws and resolutions as long as they aren't specified as 'Binding Laws' that are necessary to affect the entire confederation. Beyond the Assembly, the CSAS' judicial functions are preformed by the 'Station Court of Alpha Sol' so that disputes may be solved and the law may be interpreted.

The government of the CSAS is based on 'CSAS-Unity Station', a medium-sized urban space-station run directly by the CSAS located off of Unity Station (with the two being connected by a 'tether' which can be traversed via a monorail system which connects the two of them. Roughly half of CSAS-Unity is dedicated to government facilities, while the rest is a urban section that houses both government employees and independent civilians alongside various recreation and commercial facilities for said inhabitants.
