The Sacred Faith of the Theian Divinity, sometimes known as the Theian Native Faith, is a polytheistic and syncretic religion usually practiced by Theian Natives, worshipping and believing in the teachings of The Nine Gods of Theia and various other minor deities. The religion evolved from a series of individual, localised, monotheistic faiths that coalesced into the worldwide worship of an evolving pantheon of nine gods, across the traditional nine domains of Theia that they ruled over as "archons", or "god-kings". The faith persisted beyond the initial deaths of the gods at the hands of the Theian Cataclysm, and is still a widely practiced religion today.
The term "Theian Native Faith" is also used as an umbrella term for other belief systems native to Theia, however these are often distinct from the "Sacred Faith" in many ways - for example, the Genian Folk Religion reveres Tenno as the archon of Gensokyo (as does the Sacred Faith), but they do not revere other gods, making it a monotheistic belief system separate from the Sacred Faith.
The Nine
"The Nine" is a term that refers to the nine gods (or more appropriately archons, as they were god-rulers or "god-kings") that presided over Theia before the Cataclysm. Out of the nine that were alive at the beginning of the Theian Cataclysm (and who returned during the Divine Resurgence), at least three are "original gods", that is, they hail from Theia and have presided over their domain since its inception. Others came into the position through the death of a previous god, or in the special cases of Tenno and perhaps Minerva, having not been from Theia at all. Out of all known archons, only three are confirmed to still be alive - Tenno, Minerva, and Hecate. It it is perhaps likely that the others are alive on the planet Eos, albeit they have not made any contact nor has there been any search to contact them.
