Tenno, (Japanese: li, t. "emperor"), real name Sakamoto Sakura, (Japanese: was t) is a ex-goddess whom resided over Gensokyo until the year 238 CE. A member of The Nine, her goodwill and her striving for everlasting peace led her to create the barrier that for the majority of it's existence, had sealed Modern Gensokyo from the rest of the world, creating a prosperous nation protected from the war and conflict around it. A member of the divine Sakamoto family, Sakura was blessed with divine power from a young age, and where all her siblings failed, she excelled in her feat to establish her own realm among the Nine, becoming the first consolidated nation.
Hailing from the planet Doria in the constellation Ouroborus, Sakura was born to gods that travelled from planet to planet, distributing her blessings. It wasn't until she was five years of age that her sister Wisteria brought her to Theia after she was placed in her care. Growing up in a diverse land, she found her divine awakening a year later, harnessing the power of plants. Due to an unknown cataclysm (nowadays believed to be a cataclysmic eruption of Mount Orientalis), Wisteria abandoned her in a rush to save her own life, leaving 12 year old Sakura to witness the destruction of the land, leaving a barren landscape buried deep in ash. Distraught, her powers grew as she sought to revitalise the land, thus she became the Dendro Archon, transforming the land into an even more bountiful and colourful place than it was before the cataclysm. She created her own people to live freely in her land of eternal peace, and formed a magical barrier around her domain to prevent any warmongers from disturbing her eternal tranquility. Thus, Gensokyo was formed, becoming the first state of the Nine nations to be established. The "warmongers" to the north followed suit, forming Baiame within the decade.
Following the renunciation of her divinity, Sakura became an asset working for TERAPRO, while unilaterally investigating transgressions made by the SDS, especially Carbonado, against world peace.
Goddess of Gensokyo
Holding an endearment for nurture and love, Tenno, shortly after her ascension to divinity, cast a barrier sealing her nation off from the rest of the world to instate eternal peace within her realm. No person objected to seclusion, sharing Tenno's view on the world beyond. Tenno was adored by her people, who unconditionally entrusted themselves to her.
Ultimately, unforeseen events forced her to regrettably let go of over 90% of her realm, only being able to channel enough energy to sufficiently protect the cities of Sanctorio and Kantorio from destruction by the rogue Hydro god, Nihilantis, who was a close friend of hers. Drowning in regret of abandoning her people, she cast her spirit into the Statue of the Defender of Tranquility, entrusting her day-to-day responsibilities to the High Priests of Gensokyo and the ruling Saichi. With all of Orientalis no longer under her watchful eye, the region that was once Gensokyo slowly degenerated into a dangerous place of violence and war, especially south of the Yanz river. What was left of Gensokyo within the retreated barrier slowly lost its way with Tenno, and the High Priests grew corrupt.
Awoken centuries later by a strange couple, unbeknownst to their ulterior motives, she reunited and made amends with Nihilantis, whose spirit remained after The Annihilation due to his divine status. She looked upon her realm, having drastically changed during her absence, and was deeply disturbed by the abundance of conflict, division and instability. Discerned, and full of regret for not attempting to save her people who were now otherwise lost, she joined Nihilantis to seek out the rest of the Nine Gods.
Along with the other gods, she warred to end the threat of Sanmor once and for all, and tie the loose ends surrounding the Theian Cataclysm.
At Anor Londo, she chose to relinquish her divine powers, losing her status as a goddess and ultimately saving her life. She watched all her comrade gods vanish one by one, having all been drained of elemental energy. She adopted her real name and returned to Theia.
Life after divinity
To secure her future, she entered into an agreement with the SDS, who had previously threatened her capture. The SDS demanded SDS-017 be returned to them, along with the Anticelenderian Carbonado as a premium. Furthermore, Sakura would be forced to give up her identity and adopt the moniker "Shira." The SDS promised nothing in return other than to disregard her. After begrudgingly accepting the SDS' wishes, she set out on a journey with Andrei Varady to discover the truth behind Sanmor, and find Wisteria.
Skirmish in Denasola
Having detected Wisteria in Denasola, Sakura teleports to the location only to find out that she has just missed her. Through a voice recording, she discovers that Wisteria had taken the Asophanian leader as well as Sakura's sister Eucleia with her. She discovers that Wisteria's location led them to a secret cloning facility in Denasola ran by Carbonado, much to Andrei's disbelief. Soon, all the Iujado rise up and escape the facility, attacking the civilians of the city above. They escape after them, driving off in a car.
Izumo-in-exile
After years of searching, she rediscovered Wisteria in the enigmatic nation of Izumo, which had been sealed off from the rest of Yata by a huge dome. Discovering an abandoned underwater city project near Hiroshima, she sought out survivors of the prior mystery events in Izumo and brought them to the city. From her new base of operations, she built a network of informants and underground railroads that led to the city. She understood little about the circumstances that led Wisteria to Izumo, and so kept quiet as to not alert her presence and lose track of Wisteria again.

Name | Status | Notes |
Andrei Varady | Best friend
|
Andrei is my soulmate. Platonically, of course, but since we began travelling together we have formed a spectacular bond. Hopefully I can help him to heal as much as he has helped me. |
Varuna | Very positive
|
Varuna is one of my closest friends. Although we have since drifted, I still think highly of her.. I place a great deal of trust in her knowing our common history. |
Anahita | Positive
|
A beautiful girl. Kind, caring and gentle, and I would love to get to know her more as we travel. |
Aireskoi | Neutral/positive
|
Although I used to consider him an enemy, our relationship has improved. He often tags along on legs of our journey, though having to listen to him whine about mortality is a nuisance. |
Hecate | Neutral
|
Used to be a lovely person, and I mean that. But I cannot keep forgiving her. Our relationship is nothing but numb. |
Carbonado | Very negative
|
Being a subject of Hecate and then Nihilantis, I’ve always been distrustful of him. Nonetheless, when doing work for the SDS, I find he comes across as arrogant and displeasing. Simply, he’s of the most difficult people to trust. |
Cormac Connolly | Very negative
