Description
SDS-033, Referred to as the "Abyssal Connection" is an extrasolar anomaly which has contaminated much of the known galaxy, including human worlds. SDS-033 is a somewhat mobile dark-orange liquid produced by an extrasolar civilisation known as the Abyssal Enclave's deceased former leader, the Abyssal Motherorganism, via natural secretions from parts of its body. SDS-033 can either be found discarded in small puddles on various planets or by engaging a infected individual, as they can secrete limited amounts of the fluid in some kind of 'burst'. If ingested it previously rewrote the brain and consciousness of the victim to be joined to the hivemind of the Abyssal Enclave's motherorganism. There was no way to reverse this, and the infected individual will begin doing "intelligence operations" to serve the Abyssal Enclave. Due to unknown reasons (with the best known theory relating it to a supernova detected in the area), all instances of SDS-033 suddenly became completely inert in January 518. Reports of a similar distinct non-anomalous substance have been occasionally documented, but as said substance is not anomalous it is not classified within the SDS Database.
SDS-033 was generally safe to touch for brief periods even before it was rendered inert as long as it is washed off, as it is somewhat mobile and capable of making its way into a organism's body, which if successful would first be visible in the victim's veins, which noticeably darkened as SDS-033 spread throughout the body, leading to increased anxiety and reaction time until full neurological override occurred, assimilating the victim to the hivemind. Luckily, SDS-033 is fairly easy to dispose of and is fairly sensitive to disposal methods, as long as it has not been allowed to infect an individual.
