The Antarctic Republic, colloquially (and in some terms legally) Denasola, was a sovereign state covering the Antarctic continent until it joined the Yatan Commonwealth in 456. The country was scattered with small pockets of land that extrajudicially belonged to Asophania, with whom Denasola formed the basis of the Antarctic Protocol to manage the continent. The nation had two capitals; Chalonaja and Erebus.

Before Yetian colonists established the YARS facility in what is now the JADIRAD Quadrangle territory, Antarctica was an uninhabited continent. The growing research and development field in the region led to slow and steady migration to the less hostile Antarctic Peninsula, establishing the colony of South City. As YARS began to exceed its own capacity, a second colony known as New South City was established topside, which became the new headquarters for the research efforts, eventually leading to the establishment of the country under the name Asophania. The country was then reorganised as 'Denasola' in 99 CE following a containment breach that threatened the people of Antarctica and the rest of Yata in a bid to distance the state from research conducted in YARS, which Denasola has technical sovereignty over, however has no real power over. Concurrently YARS was restructured into the Joint Asophanian-Denasolin-Islandian Research and Development (JADIRAD) facility - Asolab. Prior to Denasola's establishment, Antarctica was essentially the sole domain of Asophania, which later on only legally existed as extrajudicial territory in land designated by the Ministry of Research and Development of Denasola's government. The country had since historically been the sole sovereign state over the continent, with a period of coexistence with Pandaland, which has since been incorporated as Peninsula State.

Under the Antarctic Protocol, Denasola was divided into two subdivisions: the Civil zone and the Research zone, roughly split by the Transantarctic range. The Civil zone, named because of civil rule, occupied much of "Western" Antarctica, and held 85% of the country's population. Within the "eastern" Research zone, planning powers were strict and the population outside of the three official cities there was extremely low. The Research zone was unique as many foreign polities held special planning privileges, which were managed by Asophania. For example, the Asophanian-Carbon Research, Development and Reactor Operations facility (ACREDEVRO) was a joint venture between Asophania and Carbon Republic, Idel-Ural. The country had faced significant challenges in its existence. The inaccessible, often inhospitable terrain of the Antarctic continent long hindered development. The range of fauna and flora was severely limited, and the polar night was both an inconvenience and a danger to human life. Originally, humans were only able to live within large biodomes, such as the ones previously within New South City, however recent technological advances have allowed for the creation of "hyperlocalised microclimates" with efficient life support and minimal environmental impact. This has allowed the once-limited, sparse population to flourish.

Historically a technocratic nation due to its heavy ties to Asolab (even after Asophanian independence), Denasola began a period of rapid economic diversification to replace Asolab as its primary economic powerhouse. Towards the later period of its existence, the Denasolin economy revolved around whaling, fishing, and offshore banking. Tourism was a present and growing industry as prolonged human habitation made the continent increasingly accessible. Agriculture was near-impossible given the climate and the polar night, though large hydroponics industry kept the population adequately fed alongside imports through the Port of South City, the continents only year-round seaport. Research and development in the agricultural industry allowed the modification and cultivation of the limited endemic flora into unique foodstuffs that have become a high-end delicacy. Prolonged exploitation of these high-end cultural niches allowed Denasola to become a focus nation of high culture and the global elite. With a very high income and GDP per capita, HDI, education rate, and remarkably low poverty, Denasola was one of the richest countries in the world.

Denasola was a unitary presidential republic. However, as governed by the Antarctic Protocol, the country was de jure loosely confederated with Asophania which granted limited planning privileges outside of the Civil zone of the continent. It was a member of the UN, and a de facto observer of the League of Theia through the Antarctic Protocol.
