The Checkmate Association, also known as the Associates of the Cause, is a private intelligence agency operating under the umbrella of the Library of Eden, being responsible for most of their more intricate operations. Much like their 'parent group', they value free knowledge, and attempt to subvert the power of organizations that hide information about subjects such as Anomalies. Very little conclusive evidence about the motives and structure of the Association have been recovered, other than they tend to possess an unusually high knowledge of their enemies structure and activities, of which the source of has yet to be identified.
