The Covenant of Wan is a sect of the Mechanical Faith notable for their much more modernized interpretation of their faith, making use of various modern information and networking technologies to worship their deity. Unlike other sects the Covenant of Wan lacks any central church body or any other kind of bureaucracy, instead acting more akin to a decentralized network of followers in regular contact with one another.
Covenant members tend to favour smaller bodily modifications than other sects, preferring procedures such as microchips and organ enhancement, though artificial limbs and other more extreme procedures have occasionally been documented. Covenant implants tend to primarily focus on communications and sensory enhancement, allowing them to connect to the 'COVENANT-NETWORK', which is a vast digital location that acts as their primary gathering point.
Covenant doctrine interprets their deity as 'fragmented', existing as disparate data present across the world's various information networks. Followers tend to view embracing their own unique traits and sharing their knowledge to others for the good of the covenant as the most favourable way of approaching or pleasing the divine, which one day will be recompiled as the combined will of humanity.
History
The Covenant of Wan was established by former members of the Second Mechanical Church in 278 following their excommunication due to their lack of faith in the SMC's highly dogmatic tendencies, leading to the Covenant of Wan becoming what the Second Mechanical Church accused them of being, modern and digital.
in 347 the Covenant of Wan was contacted by the SDL Coalition regarding joining them against the SDS Foundation. While they refused to fully join the conflict, the Covenant agreed to assist them in the cyber-warfare campaign. In 360 they additionally refused to become a part of the United Occult Initiative and its 'Occult Community'.
