The Legion of Chaos is a paramilitary terrorist organization established in the year 124 by defecting personnel from the SDS Foundation, allowing them to become prevalent in the anomalous scene by utilising anomalies to pursue their supposed eventual goal of a utopian future under their rule where humanity has full control over reality itself. Their growing influence has allowed their equipment to steadily improve, as well as launch more costly raids against the SDS Foundation and other anomaly containment organizations to grow their arsenal for future prospects. The Legion typically funds itself via arms trafficking in more underdeveloped regions of Yata and Theia, additionally utilising the populations of these regions for recruitment purposes with tacit support from many dictatorial regimes.
The Legion is largely decentralized with individual cells of the Legion operating self-sufficiently in various regions so that even if one is destroyed another could rise back up. Each of these cells are under the command of the "Aleph Network", a council of military leaders following the orders of an individual only referred to by the pseudonym "Theta-1". This leader tends to stay away from actually involving themselves directly, instead simply handing over vast compilations of orders and instructions to the Legion's forces. Below the Aleph Network and Theta-1 is the 'Gamma Class' consisting of researchers and military commanders responsible for overseeing the execution of the Aleph Network's orders. Below the Gamma Class is the 'Beta Class' responsible for carrying out the Legion's work with some autonomy. Below even the Beta Class is the 'Alpha Class' consisting of numerous expendable individuals with little to no knowledge of anomalies, accepting offers of working for the Legion typically out of desperation.
Origins
The Legion of Chaos was established in 124 as a covert special taskforce loyal to the SDS Foundation's Overseer Council alone tasked with carrying out off the books, often ethically questionable or unsavoury, operations across the globe while keeping the SDS Foundation's public reputation clean. They carried out these operations for 24 years until 148 in which during a seemingly ordinary operation the Legion suddenly turned against the Overseers, launching several largescale raids against SDS Facilities, seizing countless objects in mere days as yet another enemy for the SDS to fight against. The motives behind this betrayal remains unknown to the SDS Foundation as all attempts to locate the leaders of the Legion have failed, leading to their period of loyalty to the SDS Foundation being wiped off the books to save face.
