The Mechanical Church was a sect of the Mechanical Faith which existed from 2 AGS until 88 AGS, though according to some of their scriptures they existed before the Great Sleep as well. The church worshipped mechanization while also believing that flesh and biological life are inherently evil or wrong. The origins of this religion are unknown, however many artefacts pertaining to their beliefs have been found dating all the way back to 1800 BGS.
The Mechanical Church itself claimed that its religion dated all the way back to the dawn of time, however most people deny this claim. The main theological belief is that their deity is in some way dead/inert, however this could be reversed through the use of technology which would be used to rebuild their god to a whole state. This would allow their god to gain a physical form in order to bring forth a technological utopia, where devout believers of the faith could shred their biological forms in turn for a more pure mechanical form.
History
The Mechanical Church existed as a stable organization until the founding of Red City, with many of its believers amazed by the technological marvels of the small nation. This group of believers came to be known as the "Believers of Zayron", named after the leader of Red City; Ken Zayron. With the influence of the Believers of Zayron growing tensions within The Mechanical Church became a problem as people began being polarized between the Believers of Zayron and the Opponents of Zayron, members who believed that Red Leader was not the resurrection of their god.
The tension eventually caused the collapse of The Mechanical Church. when in the year 88 Red Leader ascended to godhood. This show of force was enough to shatter The Mechanical Church in two, the Church of the Red Leader and the Church of Mekhane. with the only remaining members of TMC being the 100 leaders of the group, who saw this shattering as unneccessary polarization and aimed to keep the church together. Due to the low number of people in this surviving neutral faction the 'first' Mechanical Church has become fully defunct.
