The United Nations of Yata was an intergovernmental organization on Yata which acts as a forum for maintaining peace, security and international cooperation between the various nations present on Yata. The United Nations was originally largely a diplomatic body, although nowadays it also acts as a method of representing the interests of the planet on the interplanetary stage, especially since the UNY's admission as a member state within the Yatan-Theian Accord in 334. The Yatan Commonwealth emerged as a 'successor' to the UN in 441, eventually fully replacing the UN in the year 462 as the UN gave up its final remaining duties.
Across the history of the United Nations several headquarters have been used. The original headquarters were in Linasburg however were destroyed in the Empire Wars. The second was built in Perezatski (Then Vanino) in Lineland. The third was built in Tritoniyagrad. The fourth and final Headquarters were located in Mylonagrad, near the city centre.
United Nations Security Council & Citizen Council
The UN Security Council was a internal organ of the UN responsible for ensuring international peace and security, as well as establishing peacekeeping operations, enacting sanctions, and authorizing military action. It was the only body within the UN with the authority to pass legally binding resolutions on member states. Following reforms in the 430s the Security Council had largely been stripped of its most extreme powers by many of its reforms, abolishing permanent council-members and veto rights. During these reforms a secondary 'Citizen Council' elected by Yata's public was also established to draft resolutions that the Security Council would approve.
United Nations of Yata Peacekeeping and Enforcement Force
The United Nations of Yata Peacekeeping and Enforcement Force (UNYPEF) was the United Nations' permanent peacekeeping and military force tasked with interventions in conflict zones across Yata in order to prevent largescale casualties or chaos. Notable deployments included defending Sizhou from Lineland and defending Jugoslavija from the Intermarium. Beyond the UNYPEF, the UN had also intervened via other means such as propping up the UN-aligned Initiative for Peace and Democracy. Prior to the establishment of UNYPEF the UNY primarily pursued peacekeeping operations via the 'United Nations of Yata Peacekeeping Taskforce' (UNYPT), a much weaker non-permanent body.
