The Council of Genetic Purity is a legislative, caste and scientific council which formerly existed as the leaders of the Nebularian Hegemony, directing its various eugenicist policies. Despite nowadays not holding any power following the dissolution of the Hegemony, they still exist as a caste within society consisting of the highest evolved individuals.

History

Early Actions

As the evolution of the Nebularians stopped being a process of natural selection, it instead became a process dictated by the Nebularians themselves as the Council of Genetic Purity emerged, consisting only of the most evolved beings in charge of their whole society. These evolved beings kept advancing and growing more intelligent over time, becoming more cold and calculating with each instance of symbiogenesis. This council worked for eons to make themselves more perfect, to the point that most Nebularians were deemed imperfect and thus became left behind.

Nebularian society essentially fractured in half between the Near-Demigod Council and the "Impure" populace. Regardless of any issues this could have posed, the Council continued its rapid evolution to the point they no longer even needed a proper body, simply becamoming levitating brains wielding prehensile tentacles adept in the most powerful psionics. As they continued to progress the number of lifeforms the evolved could merge with began running out on Nebiula, as even artificial evolution via genetic manipulation had lead nowhere. They were forced to once more begin attempting to evolve the impure populace so that their evolution may continue.

Start of the Hegemony

The Council of Genetic Purity, seeing that its evolution and power was nearing their end, constructed massive facilities in order to artificially evolve the "impure" Nebularians to feats above their own regardless if the impure wished not to be evolved. These efforts usually lead to yet more failures as hundreds of still impure and warped beings were created from the endless testing and experimenting. With this failing, the Council decided that the only way forwards was conquering and assimilating inferior species beyond their solar system so their evolution may continue.

The Nebularian Hegemony was formed, an empire under the command of the Council responsible for conquering dozens of other worlds, detaining millions of individuals to taken back to Nebiula for their evolution experiments. Over time resistance against their invasions increased, until they came into contact with a series of much larger civilisations, ones which they could not beat yet such as the Ugandans, Empyrians and Wabbolans. As they began encountering more and more powerful civilisations, they were forced to stop expanding as they could simply not beat everyone. After a hundred of years of being trapped in place, an answer to their troubles would come as a great conqueror.

Invasion by the Elder Overseers

As the High Priest arrived on the edges of the Nebularian Hegemony, he knew this time he could not act alone in his invasion, as he already knew of the Nebularians' abilities and power. The High Priest opened protected portals onto the surface of Nebiula Itself, unleashing the now united armies of Solaryans, Vorxans and Wei'virs onto its surface against the Impure Nebularian armies. The highly evolved beings of the Council of Genetic Purity were forced to intervene, using their great power to halt the advance and collect genetic samples, eventually even seizing direct control of the Celestial Armies to capture the High Priest himself with their psionic capabilities. They could not control him like they had done to his armies, but they regardless managed to subdue him and bring him to Nebiula.

The Council decided to dissect the High Priest, seeing his genome as the answer for evolution beyond what even they could imagine. The High priest tried to resist this by offering his and his armies aid against the surrounding nations and to grant them his own genetic code so they may evolve, all they would have to do is join his army. Despite expecting them to accept, the Nebularians rejected his offer, as they already controlled his army, and they could just take his DNA themselves.

The Wei'virs, the sole part of the Celestial Army had not been successfully brainwashed, were merely playing along to see what would happen. But now was the time to act, as the end of the High Priest would also inevitably lead to the end of their plans. The Wei'virs utilised their cosmic powers to break the army free from control and directed all of the forces to go and free the High Priest. The combined forces decimated the Nebularians, wiping them out until the High Priest managed to break free himself. Under his reinstated command he seized all of the Nebularians' prototype evolved forms using his genome, deciding that they would be perfect for his army. His first instinct was to eradicate the Nebularians due to him being captured by them, but right before he did this act the puppet in his mind controlled by the Wei'virs spoke to him, convincing him that the Nebularians could still be useful. He agreed, and held another speech offering the same chance to the Nebularians he had offered them before. But this time they fully listened, as unbeknownst to the High Priest, the Wei'virs had seized full control of the Nebularians aswell.

Modern Status

The Council of Genetic Purity still exists, however it no longer holds full administrative power. It exists mainly as a social caste.
