Skurial Synthworks (SSW) is a major robotics corporation based in Hope City, Skurial that was established in 525 CE via an investment from the Yatan Theian Accord's government in order to establish of a more proximate offshoot of the widely successful Danor Synthworks, a similar corporation situated in the far-away Danor Republic which pioneered the construction of Synths after reverse-engineering pre-existing YNF technologies in the area (which were initially developed as the 'next best thing' after they failed to attain efficient cloning technology[1]). As it originates from an Accord investment, Skurial Synthworks is regularly contracted by the Accord as its primary manufacturer of Synths and Androids primarily to supplement physical labour on (generally newly colonized) planets with minimal populations below a hundred thousand, while also employing them elsewhere in various other duties such as services, social work, and military work, together numbering more than 20 million SSW produced units concurrently operating for the Accord.
Skurial Synthworks finds itself as arguably the most advanced robotics company within the Accord in the modern day, with its most noteworthy achievement being the 'Encephalon Intelligence System' (EIS), the most advanced self-enclosed (don't rely on networks or external servers for instructions and storage) artificial 'brain' hardware & software to have been developed by Humanity. EIS systems contain an artificial-intelligence construct known as a 'template' derived from somewhat-altered brain-scans of volunteering Humans (many templates are composed of multiple combined brainscans, and avoid transferring over memories aside from personalities and skillsets) in order to ensure that their occupants' minds are as complex and as "human" as possible, allowing for incredibly intelligent and human-like behaviours. SSW products tend to vary regarding how 'Human' they physically present as, with Synths often having reinforced artificial-skin (varying from being essentially standard Human skin to a harder protective layer depending on specialization) covering a hydrogel layer attached to their outer shell, while Androids simply have more standard protective plating on their shell. Both Synths and Androids' outer shells surround a metallic or carbon-fibre based internal frame supporting their structure and protecting their internal components which are themselves surrounded by an insulating hydrogel-substance designed to prevent impact damage and overheating, though even if damaged Synths are designed to be fairly easily repairable via modular/replacement parts sold by SSW, with only the EIS typically requiring servicing by DSW/SSW alongside certain more intricate components, which may cause faults if assembled carelessly.
