The Tarqalan Empire started as the "Kingdom of Targoltos", a theocratic city state in eastern Central Asia, which eventually managed to unite all nations in the area under their banner. Following their expansion and reorganization into the The Tarqalan Empire they managed to thrive for several Centuries, conquering much of Eurasia in the process until they were dealt a defeat by the Yetai Empire, temporarily pushing them out of central asia. Following this defeat they managed to rebuild their forces, and reconquer alot of their territory in the Eurasian steppe. They however eventually declined due to the growing powers of Sizzle and Zantozacoria, alongside a defeat by the Yatan Empire leading to them losing control over Uighurstan. Following this series of defeats, they eventually collapsed and wiped out by foreign invaders.

The Tarqalan Empire began as a series of city-states in the Altai region, with shared culture and religion. This did not last though, as they shifted drastically towards imperialism and violence. Once the Tarqalans were unified under the banner of Targoltos, they enslaved and oppressed all who crossed their path. Their culture was highly stratocratic with an matriarchal ruling class called the Targoltian Matriarchs. These matriarchs served as both political and religious leaders. Additionally it has been discovered that 'Matriarch' was not a hereditary title, but instead the Matriarchs used unknown means to live extended lives.
Despite the demise of the Tarqalan Empire, their influence continues to have some impact on modern day cultures and practices in the form of a number of cults dedicated to the more extreme parts of their cultural practices which arose in the 100s. In the 190s the SDS Foundation put its focus on stamping out the influence of these cults, eventually forcing them to retreat out of the public eye. Despite this, several missing persons reports have been connected to these cults actions in Emiro, London, and Yetia City, though the only known location where these cults continue operate is a minor industrial district in Yetia City.

Religious Practices
The most notable incident regarding the Tarqala cults past the 100s was in the 290s, during which the SDS Foundation managed to identify several Tarqalan cultists and facilities which were using a Siberian oil conglomerate as a front company, prompting the SDS foundation to fabricate a controversy during "Operation Red Frost" to allow for the conglomerate to appear to have naturally dissolved while its leadership were captured, leading to the discovery of their final strongholds in western Khuree. Due to artifacts such as SDS-031 there is a supposed threat of the Tarqalan Empire re-emerging via rewriting itself back into history if the anomaly was to breach containment.
Records of earlier religious practices are hard to ascertain, but usually involved sacrifice of people and blood, and even ritual cannibalism. Their rituals often incorporated dancing especially during sacrificial rituals, due to their veneration of dance as a show of human life. Their entire religion consisted on valuing life, the material world and its creator, with this Creator was seen as a being which sprung life into the material universe from beyond taking the form of a source of life rather than a creator figure. Most worship to this deity involved blood rituals, due to its significance in keeping a human alive. Tarqalan cultural practice, much like their religious practices often involved sacrifice and veneration of life to the point that their society did not have a concept of an afterlife. According to some recovered records though these more barbaric practices overtime mellowed out except in some radical circles.
Modern Day Influence
Despite the apparent demise of the Tarqalan Empire, their influence continues to have some impact on modern day cultures and practices. The most obvious example of this influence is the Order of the Immortal Targoltos, a mysterious cult dedicated to the ideals of the Tarqalans. This Cult had in the past managed to influence certain sects of society in northern and western eurasia, especially during the rise of occultism in the 2nd century. In the 190s the SDS Foundation put its focus on stamping out the influence of the Order, eventually forcing them to retreat out of the public eye. Despite this, several incidents such as over two hundred missing persons reports have been connected to the Order's actions in Emiro, London, and Yetia City. The only known facility belonging to the Order continues operates in a unassuming warehouse in Yetia City, which has since been placed under SDS Surveillance.

The SDS Foundation's Investigations
In the 290s the SDS Foundation managed to discover several strongholds belonging to organisations and indivuals affiliated with the Tarqalans. The First of these discoveries was a the Order of the Immortal Targoltos being behind a Siberian conglomerate’s expansion. The Operation to covertly shut this conglomerate down was labeled "Operation Red Frost", fabricating a controversy to naturally allow for an explanation for the conglomerate dissolving after its leadership had been destroyed successfully. In the process of attempting to locate the Matriarch and other anomalous forces she was in arms against, the staff of Site-91 discovered an abandoned Tarqala stronghold in western Khuree. As such, these reports concerning the investigation offer the greatest insight into the potential threat of an active Tarqalan force on the SDS Foundation’s attempts to maintain normalcy.

Due to artifacts such as SDS-031 there is a real threat of the Tarqalan Empire re-emerging via rewriting itself back into history, especially following the Qalkatta Incident.

The Tarqalan Empire was a vast nomadic empire that spread out of a region initially based around the Altai mountains as the 'Kingdom of Targoltos' which went on to expand across a significant portion of Eurasia, reaching its peak 1802 before the Great Sleep following their invasion of the Hyacin Dynasty. Targoltos began as a theocratic city-state surrounded by a collection of fellow Indo-Iranian statelets which were eventually conquered by the Targoltos, unifying the region and allowing them to expand across the Eurasian steppe without much resistance until they faced a defeat by the Yetai Empire, forcing them back into Siberia until the Yetaians' own empire collapsed, allowing the Tarqalans to reclaim much of their territory until their eventual collapse due to a series of defeats by Sizzle, Zantozacoria, and the Empire of Yata weakening them enough for a slave revolt to destroy them.

Societal Structure

The Tarqalan Empire began as a series of city-states in the Altai region with shared culture and religion, though once the Empire rose its culture took a darker turn towards imperialism, oppressing most of those they conquered by subsuming them into their stratified matriarchal culture. Religion-wise, the Tarqalans practiced a veneration of human life, the material world, and its creator which sprung life into the world by taking the form of its source, with this creator being worshipped via sacrificial rituals and dance-like veneration of the living as opposed to the dead, which were not seen as existing past death.

Modern Day Influence

Despite the demise of the Tarqalan Empire, their influence continues to have some impact on modern day cultures and practices in the form of a number of cults dedicated to the more extreme parts of their cultural practices which arose in the 100s. In the 190s the SDS Foundation put its focus on stamping out the influence of these cults, eventually forcing them to retreat out of the public eye. Despite this, several missing persons reports have been connected to these cults actions in Emiro, London, and Yetia City, though the only known location where these cults continue operate is a minor industrial district in Yetia City.
