The Republic of Al'sawayid-Illa Sousania (Arabic: الساڢاييد, Latin: Illa Sousania, IPA: elˈsəvaɪˈɪd iːlə səsanˈjə) commonly shortened to (Republic of) Alsavaeid, is a member republic of the Yatan-Theian Federation, and formerly a sovereign state in its own right, located in northeastern Theia. It was founded by Yatan colonists primarily from Aparty, and as such it is a cosmopolitan nation of Arab, Osanian, mixed European and indigenous Theian influences. The state is dominated by its capital and largest city - Alsavaeid City. The country occupies nearly the entire Sousania peninsula, as well as the islands of Isolaviola (Volhi Akbar) and Nova Carniola (Volhi Aqalu), and the remote archipelago of Isolacarne.
Alsavaeid, much like the rest of the Sousania region, was only sparsely populated by Theian natives prior to its establishment. The relative isolation from the rest of the continental landmass, especially due to the anomalously large estuary of the Savalon river, has been long considered by theographers as a reason for this. Alsavaeid borders an exclave of Sousania to the southwest, North Keiria to the south and Eastern Baiame to the southeast.
Alsavaeid is a multi-ethnic polity divided into three sociopolitical regions and two cultural regions: Alarabiy, and the Latinate, as well as the Insulari. In the north of the country, Alarabiy and the Latinate follow the rough borders of initial claims on Sousania from Arab and European groups respectively, whereas in the south the distinction is more arbitrary. These two regions are culturally divided, with the Latinate speaking the official minority languages of French, Italian and Spanish, and Alarabiy speaking the official language, which is Arabic. Other than atheism, the most practiced religion in the Latinate is Catholicism whereas in Alarabiy it is Islam. Although the constitution of the state describes the two regions as "nations", "countries", or even "constituent states", the two are governed under one unitary state, and despite Alarabiy holding the bulk of the population, the two nations are social cultural, and political equals.
Alsavaeid is divided into 47 entities, consisting of 41 provinces, 4 special cities (Alsavaeid City, Alkemet, Secundus and Al'qus), and 2 territories. 33 of these entities belong to Alarabiy and 14 of them, including all of the Insulari, are aligned with the Latinate. There is also a distinction between the founding provinces in the north, and the "new provinces" located south of the now-dissolved Alsavaeid Borderlands special territory (generally south of Hudud Territory). Alsavaeid is one of the most developed areas in the world, and is consistently ranked as one of the most globalised out of both Theian and Yatan countries. Mainly thanks to this and their status as one of its founders, they were selected to be the home of the capital of the Theian Federation in Alsavaeid City.
Government
When it was sovereign, Alsavaeid was a parliamentary democracy with a elected president. The legislature, known as the Parliament was also elected by the people of the nation.
The Social Democratic Party was currently dominant in the legislature, holding a slight majority of seats.
History
Alsavaeid was founded in 254 by Arab colonists, primarily from Hayah and Aparty, and European colonists, primarily from Yetia. The colonists formed a democratic society, which initially was under the nearby Osania's protection under Alsavaeid was able to start its own military.
In May 435 Alsavaeid became one of the founding states of the Theian Federation, becoming home to its capital despite being located so far to the east.
