The Galactic Federation is a vast interstellar federation of autonomous 'federal stated' with territories spanning across much of the central regions of the Milky Way galaxy, in addition to some minor holdings in other regions. Ever since its formation the Galactic Federation has been one of the major players within the galaxy, acting as a superpower alongside the Protoss and Kings. In 393 the Federation was briefly usurped by the Omniphanes Society's "Great Cosmic Commonwealth" until its eventual full restoration in 437 after decades of fighting against its occupiers. The Galactic Federation is a key member of the Galactic Community, even hosting its headquarters in the Ordellia system.
