The Antarctic Republic, colloquially (and in some terms legally) Denasola, is a sovereign state covering 95% of the Antarctic continent. It's only neighbour is Pandaland to the north, and the country is scattered with small pockets of land that extrajudicially belong to Asophania.
Denasola was established in 99 CE following a containment breach that threatened the people of Antarctica and the rest of Yata in a bid to distance the state from research conducted in the Asolab, which Denasola has technical sovereignty over, however has no real power over. Prior to Denasola's establishment, Antarctica was the sole domain of Asophania, which now legally exists as extrajudicial territory in land designated by the Ministry of Research and Development of Denasola's government.
Following the break from technocracy, Denasola began a period of rapid economic diversification to replace Asolab, which was its predominant income source. The modern Denasolin economy revolves around whaling, fishing, and especially offshore banking.
