The Darkness is a Liminal Sub-Space within the Backrooms System that takes the form of a vast labyrinth shrouded in complete darkness, with no light permeating within the sub-space and all light sources becoming dysfunctional upon entry. Navigation is therefore highly difficult, as one must feel their way through the dark corridors consisting of an unknown smooth and cold material. In addition to its darkness, the sub-space is additionally completely silent, akin to a soundproof room. Due to its total sensory depravation beyond touch, The Darkness is known for the extreme mental hazards its environment subjects onto those that venture through it, with paranoia, anxiety, hypertension, and hallucinations all being fairly common occurrences.
Demographics
Due to its sensory deprivation and subsequent mental hazards, no permanent settlers are known to inhabit The Darkness (although this is difficult to verify), therefore it only has a small population of roughly 0-9 transitory visitors at any given time as of 445, with this estimate largely being derived from data gathered of those that enter it rather than internal studies.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- Noclipping into a hole in the wall found within The Dark World's main sections will send you here.
Exits
- One may accidentally trip when travelling through this sub-space, which will lead to them being noclipped to a fringe room of the Neverending Concrete.
