The Portal Matrix is a Liminal Sub-Space within the Backrooms that takes the form of a series of 'futuristic' corridors, tunnels, and rooms centred around a large portal complex utilised for interdimensional travel. The sub-space itself varies greatly when it comes to internal structure, starting in a long hallway that eventually leads to the other areas. You can find an elevator that leads up to a series of maintenance tunnels that go throughout the interior of the Portal Matrix between all of its machinery. At both the end of the hallway or via an elevator within the maintenance tunnels one may come across the Portal Matrix' eponymous structure, the Portal itself, which connects to a similar portal of unknown origin on the island of Svalbard within Yata's dimension of Timeline-002, utilising the vast power generated by The Facility to function. Nearby to this room is a series of rooms utilised for additional artificial portal operations and various administrative quarters, though access to these regions is restricted by certain groups.
Demographics
Due to it functioning as the main "public" point of access between standard reality and the Backrooms System as well as acting as a major base of operations for groups with a vested interest in the technologies within the sub-space, the Portal Matrix has a population of roughly 65-90 permanent inhabitants and transitory visitors at any given time. While many of these individuals are travellers heading to and from the Backrooms/Reality, a large portion of these individuals permanently resides within the SDSB's "Portal Matrix Management Facility" within the Portal Matrix that acts in tandem with the SDS Foundation's "Dimensional-Site-99B", with the SDS being a secretive organization originating from reality which the SDSB formed as a splinter of prior to the creation of the portal to connect worlds.

- If you find a vent on the wall of the Dissonance and enter it and then pick the right path within the tunnel it leads to you will end up here.
- You can find a gray-coloured hallway within The Facility which has an elevator that leads here.
- You can find a vent deep in The Lobby's fringe areas that leads here.
Exits
- You can find a ladder that leads to the Pylons.
- You can find a vent within the maintenance tunnels that leads to The Lobby.
- You can find an elevator that leads to The Facility at the beginning of the hallway area.
- Noclipping into an unusual metal structure found in the eastern areas of the maintenance tunnels leads to The Railway.
