The Fractured Sea is a Liminal Sub-Space within the Backrooms System that takes the form of a large building that serves as a apartment complex and shopping centre situated within a vast sea of Fracture Weld which extends an unknown distance downwards from the front door. The sub-level is notable for arguably being somewhat liveable within the apartment complex, although settlements within it are not self-sustaining due to the building's small size and lack of replenishing resources necessitating supply imports to keep it operating. On the bottom floor of the building you can find a shopping centre that features 3 restaurants,2 shops, and a photographing office open for the sub-spaces citizens to use and work on. Above this there are 4 floors consisting of various apartments that people live within and below it is an unusual largely uninhabited basement home to a series of restaurants, clubs, and other venues that are rarely used. The sea itself is somewhat of a threat, considering the difficulty when it comes to swimming in it and its toxic properties if consumed beyond small quantities.
Demographics
Thanks to its various accommodations in the form of shops and housing the Fractured Sea is home to a population of roughly 42-60 permanent inhabitants and transitory visitors at any given time as of 445, of which a vast majority reside within the Secure-Defend-Subjugate Backrooms' colony known as "The Unshattered" that keeps all of these establishments running. This colony initially thrived off of the Fracture Weld trade although once its importance decreased it slowly became a more typical settlement as prospectors moved away.
