The Cave is a Liminal Sub-Space within the Backrooms System that takes the form of a vast cavern containing both thinner tunnels and massive open chambers. The Cave consists of various sub-sections, although most of them converge in the large central chamber, which leads to various smaller winding caves and other chambers, such as the "Flooded Chamber" to the east, the "Semicircular Cave" to the north, the "Northwest Winding Caves" and "Rock Passage Caves" to the west, and the "Spider Caves" to the south. Many of these caves are also home to various ponds or in some cases large underground lakes, which are typically fairly safe to drink (though boiling said water first is still recommended).
Demographics
Due to its plentiful resources and various entrances The Cave has a fairly sizable population, which consists of roughly 65-78 permanent inhabitants and transitory visitors at any given time as of 446. The Cave is home to 2 notable settlements, of which the first is a SDSB Settlement found within the "Rock Passage Caves" known as "Cavegrad", home to a fairly small population of settlers mainly involved in the resource sector. The larger of the two major settlements is the town of Neuheim found in the central chamber, which acts as a home for tens of unaligned individuals seeking neutrality from any major groups.
