The Facility is a Liminal Sub-Space within the Backrooms System that takes the form of a large and futuristic generator complex, which allegedly acts as one of the locations that powers the entire Backrooms' power network. The generator[1] is not physically accessible, as the bulk of the Sub-Space's accessible environments are countless floors of circular hallways surrounding 4 large empty spaces which have the energy from the reactor blasting through them. It is possible to traverse these floors and hallways via a central ladder room that connects the 4 circular hallways of any given floor while also allowing the wanderer to climb to other floors. Most floors are completely empty aside from large windows that overlook the central hallways, though some floors have doors or vents which can be accessed to enter various other rooms within the sub-space, which typically act as a path leading to an exit from the subspace.
The Hallways often have various electrical outlets and wires which can be used to power various tools and devices, allowing wanderers on this level to essentially utilise infinite power. This factor to the level has made it a location of significant interest to the SDSB, which has set up a permanent presence on the level in order to power its technology and weapons. Where a majority of the subspace's power goes is unclear, although it is known to atleast power the Portal Matrix and the Pylons, which are both separate liminal spaces connected to The Facility in some form.
History
- During Nihilantis-Incident-149 Palladia, Asophania and the SDSB traversed through The Facility, encountering Luxuria within the level.
Demographics
The Facility, while having a fairly small population, seemingly is capable of supporting a fairly large population due to it both being relatively safe to traverse, and due to the fact that in some hallways and especially the central ladder chamber crates full of various supplies can be found.
EPD-L12 Station
EPD-L12 Station is the only documented settlement within The Facility and the SDSB's primary base of operations within it. EPD-L12 is governed by the SDSB's Energy Production Department, and is generally staffed by mechanics and electricians which produce power cells and various batteries for the entire SDSB as a whole. There is also a small garrison present here, which has been tasked with defending the subspace and its inhabitants from intrusions by hostile groups.
Wanderers
There is a small population of mostly transitory wanderers outside of EPD-L12 whom peacefully explore the subspace and make use of its many resources. Most of these individuals are undocumented, and only a few are permanent residents.
