The CIS began scouting out 'The Shadow Empire' to find connections to the Yatan National Front, uncovering ships with similar designs to the YNF's ships as well as a substantial population of Humans, which the CIS began spying on with modified surveillance satellites as they failed to break thru the encryption used on the local communications. Once the Shadow Empire was essentially confirmed to be the YNF, a CIS fleet of 80 Behemoth Classes, 100 Minotaur Classes, and numerous support craft launched an invasion of YNF space before they could prepare any defences, sabotaging them with attacks via stealth frigates as the fleet approached.
CIS ships struck Vispia, Della, and Vothna from the south, and Kalodana from the north as they sought to cripple YNF's production capacity as thus far they had seen many easy victories due to only really facing against lighter ships, until the CIS force in Kalodana was suddenly attacked by a massive force of battleships which pushed them back aside from one ship which appeared to be impervious to all damage and used an ion cannon to disable many YNF ships, holding back the YNF for a few hours. CIS forces in the south advanced eastward toward Verneldia and Gelphor with the aid of the Ion-Cannon ship from the north. The CIS tried to use Toyota Hiluxes with machine guns on them on the front for some reason, which wasn't effective. As the CIS freed YNF slaves, they remembered that many Humans had enslaved Yomtachs in the past and requested aid from them to liberate others, leading to 10 thousand volunteers from the Interspecies Kingdom Clan joining their efforts, shortly after which support began arriving from the Protoss Empire and parts of the Galactic Federation. To the north, YNF forces headed north and reached the Miranda Prime System where they temporarily held their positions as they lured in the CIS to attack first with their own defence fleets and platforms, while the YNF forces also focused on bombarding Miranda Prime's surface to curtail weapons-development there such as a 'weaponised' version of their old anti-asteroid device from Ganymede, though despite their defensive postures they began to face logistical issues from convoy raiding. CIS forces managed to encircle Verneldia after the YNF had already evacuated most important assets from the system.
YNF forces attempted to retake Vothna, but were beaten back by CIS forces, meanwhile in the north the CIS' coordinated defence efforts pushed back the enemy at Miranda Prime. After resecuring Vothna, CIS forces moved north towards Onaxia and surrounded Gelphor, from which YNF forces evacuated prior to its fall. CIS forces captured Onaxia and Atraxia and began moving on towards Zathar-12 and Vonstazt, prompting the YNF to come to the conclusion that holding onto its possessions in the region was pointless and thus began a 'scorched earth campaign' by orbitally bombarding all planets under its control (mainly thanks to its Starstation-1 mobile spacestation) which the CIS attempted to stop with a series of rapid attacks. YNF forces managed to glass Atroxia, Onaxia, Zathar-12, Vonstazt, Cailus, Castodara, Reitria, Keffenia, and Vix'ni Aldru in their campaign of destruction while also partially damaging Gelphor, Vothna, and Miranda Prime, after which the CIS managed to beat back the YNF at Miranda Prime. After their campaign of destruction ended, the YNF fleet escaped into Unknown Space where their fate remained unknown as attempts to track them down failed, while the former territories of the Shadow Empire were incorporated into the CIS as the 'Koprulu Sectors' temporarily governed by an Artificial Intelligence system named "Planetary Administration Manager".
Many citizens from the CIS' core territories began moving out west to stake their claim on the 'wild' new territories, soon being followed by Aeternus Materials which deployed a large number of vessels in order to seize as many mining sites as possible, with 21 Atlas-4 Class Super-Haulers transporting equipment of supplies, 18 Atlas-2 Class Mining-Freighters with each a dozen of Honeybadger Mining-Ships and drones, and 9 Pyramid-Class Construction-Ships run by Olymp Constructa escorted by 15 Protektos-Class Escort Ships.
